Maro Polo, in his description of Leonia, said that it will eventually be crushed by all of it's waste. Then, the other cities outside of it will expand over the flattened city and Leonia will cease to exist. I was wondering, if Leonia represents our society, then what do the cities who will overtake Leonia represent? If we are buried by our own waste, who will build over our remains? And is this a cycle that constantly repeats itself, and if so, can it ever be stopped?
